CVR Energy is an independent and sophisticated petroleum refiner and marketer of high value transportation fuels, and through CVR Partners, LP, a limited partnership of which we own all current economic interests, a producer and marketer of nitrogen fertilizer products in North America. Our company generated approximately $5 billion in net sales revenue in 2008 and serves the respective refined petroleum products and fertilizers markets in the mid-continental United States. CVR Energy’s petroleum business is composed of four subsidiaries working together to serve our petroleum products customers: Coffeyville Resources Refining & Marketing, LLC; Coffeyville Resources Crude Transportation, LLC; Coffeyville Resources Terminal, LLC; and Coffeyville Resources Pipeline, LLC.

Coffeyville Resources Refining & Marketing, LLC, the heart of our petroleum business, operates a 115,000 barrel per day complex full coking medium sour crude refinery located in Coffeyville, Kan. Crude oil and other unrefined petroleum inputs are converted in this refinery to high value, clean transportation fuels, such as gasoline and diesel fuels. We use advanced processing units capable of thermal coking, catalytic cracking, isomerization, alkylation, and reforming. Coffeyville Resources Refining & Marketing is responsible for marketing all of our refined products.

Of the refinery's approximate 115,000 barrel per day requirement for crude oil, about 75 percent is purchased from international and domestic crude oil suppliers, and the balance is sourced by Coffeyville Resources Crude Transportation, LLC through its 30,000 barrel per day crude oil gathering system serving central and southeastern Kansas, northern Oklahoma, eastern Colorado, western Missouri and southwest Nebraska.

Coffeyville Resources Terminal, LLC operates a refined products terminal in Phillipsburg, Kan., that supplies the region with up to 4,500 barrels per day of asphalt and refined transportation products.

Coffeyville Resources Nitrogen Fertilizers, LLC operates a sophisticated nitrogen production facility located adjacent to the refinery in Coffeyville, Kan. This plant is the only commercial facility in North America that uses low cost petroleum coke—as opposed to natural gas—to produce nitrogen fertilizers. The majority of the petroleum coke used in the state-of-the-art petroleum coke gasification process is supplied by our refinery.

In 2008, Coffeyville Resources Nitrogen Fertilizers produced 112,500 tons of ammonia available for sale, and also produced 599,200 tons of urea ammonium nitrate.
